Associates Engineering, PC Volkert is an organization of engineers, planners and construction management professionals providing services in the metropolitan Washington, DC area since 1957. Volkert works from two local offices – Washington, DC and Alexandria, VA. Volkert’s engineering services in the District of Columbia range from major interstate projects, such as $47 million rehabilitation of the Anacostia Freeway; to urban roadway, interchange and bridge improvements, such as the replacement of the $25 million Benning Road Bridge over Anacostia River; to traffic studies/design, and intersection improvements throughout the city. Volkert's civil/site capabilities cover permitting, grading, drainage, utilities, and culvert/tunnel design. Transportation work includes safety upgrades, parking design, access and circulation studies, roadway, bridge and traffic engineering. Environmental capabilities cover environmental assessments, investigations and mitigation plans for asbestos, USTs, lead paint and other hazardous materials. Volkert's construction and program management services include, construction engineering inspection, constructability and schedule reviews, claims analysis and dispute resolution. Headquartered in Mobile, Alabama, Volkert has a corporate staff of more than 550 who practice from 13 regional offices. In business for nearly 80 years, Volkert has long been involved in building infrastructure throughout the mid-Atlantic and southeastern states.
